Poem, Short Story and Novel Review

1. Poem

Today The Teacher Farted
by Emma Briody

Today the teacher farted,
It was an awful smell.
It was just like a rotting egg,
Straight from the depths of Hell!

She tried to keep it secret,
By sitting in a group.
But it was really obvious,
When she said, "Who did that poop?"

She screwed her bright, red face up,
And blamed it all on Claire.
But later when I needed help,
The stench was round her chair!

She avoided my eye contact,
And ticked my work in green.
But she knew that her body smells,
Were foul and quite obscene.

I asked her what that smell was,
She said she'd not a clue.
I hope to God that eggy smell,
Was fart and not a poo!

Today the teacher farted,
My word, what had she ate?
I'll always remember what she did,
And now I'm thirty eight!

If you read the poem, it is very clear that the poem is for fun.
according to allpoetry.com the writer of the poem said "This was written in 2012 by me when I was actually 38. I am a teacher and I was having a little chuckle to myself about an incident when I was in primary school and we had a supply teacher for a day. She walked past me and as she did so she let rip really loudly. To this day I have never forgotten it and I thought I would write a funny poem. Its dedicated to all those teachers who can relate to this"

The rythm of the poem is ABCB. It also has 6 stanzas with 4 lines on each stanza. I like this poem because it gives you a picture of a teacher on students. It is also funny although I'm not children anymore. The teacher was like confused when she farted and blame it all on Claire. Well, my advice is don't fart if you are a teacher :D

2. Short story review

Blind Vaysha is a short story from Theodore Ushev and nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
This story is mainly about a girl named Vaysha. She cannot see the present, her left eye sees the past and her right eye sees the future.
She was depressed to have this.. ability. Imagine if you have those eyes. Everyday you live you will see the world at its creation and its apocalypse. Like i said, Vaysha's eyes didn't always see things at the same gap of the time. Sometime she saw the world was being created and the world is being destroyed.

Her ability was also a nightmare for her because She dreamt about the day she was born and the day she died.
She was frustrated and chose to rip one of his eyes off. However, she was confused which one that would be ripped because if she ripped her left eye, she would see the future and it was such a pain in the neck, also if she ripped the right eye, she couldn't live on the past every time. Yes, it is very confusing.

This story is very original and I never found any story like this. I love this story because it opened my mind about what we always do. Yes, we always do like vaysha. We always see the past and always see the future. We never see the present.
We are always afraid of the future that doesn't happen yet and always living in the past which is such a pain in the neck.

3. Novel review

The Catcher in The Rye

This synopsis was taken from cliffsnotes.com, J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the RyeHolden Caulfield recounts the days following his expulsion from Pencey Prep, a private school. After a fight with his roommate, Stradlater, Holden leaves school two days early to explore New York before returning home, interacting with teachers, prostitutes, nuns, an old girlfriend, and his sister along the way. J.D. Salinger's classic The Catcher in the Rye illustrates a teenager's dramatic struggle against death and growing up.

So, The Catcher in The Rye has 5 main characters, they are Holden CaulfieldPhoebeAllieD.B.Mr. Antolini

The book is mainly tells us about a young boy named Holden Caulfield. He was kicked out of his school because he failed all the subjects except English.
In this novel, I really like how Salinger made the flow of Holden's emotion. Holden's imagination is also made very good.

If you are an adult and read this novel, you probably think that Holden is such a witty boy. You will swear your life never be like Holden.
However, If you are still on Junior High School like Holden, You will support what he did, because he did what every student at his age wants.

I was like Holden when I was on JHS, I see the world is very phony there is a lot of people lying to get what they want.

Anyway, this book is not suitable for a child because there are many swearing words that are not appropriate for children.
The relationship between Holden and his sister was the only thing that was able to control Holden's emotion.
He really loved Phoebe. He chose not to go west because of his sister, She changed his mind.

When I read this novel I was drown to Holden's emotion. I thought what he did was the best thing but then I realized that He was angry and couldn't think clearly.

Anyway, I love this book and I recommend you to read this.

Short Story Analysis : A Haunted House by Virginia Woolf

A Haunted Hous e by Virginia Woolf             Whatever hour you woke there was a door shutting. From room to room they went, hand in hand, lifting here, opening there, making sure—a ghostly couple.             “Here we left it,” she said. And he added, “Oh, but here too!” “It’s upstairs,” she murmured. “And in the garden,” he whispered “Quietly,” they said, “or we shall wake them.”                But it wasn’t that you woke us. Oh, no. “They’re looking for it; they’re drawing the curtain,” one might say, and so read on a page or two. “Now they’ve found it,” one would be certain, stopping the pencil on the margin. And then, tired of reading, one might rise and see for oneself, the house all empty, the doors standing open, only the wood pigeons bubbling with content and the hum of the threshing ma...
