The Brief History of Android

Hello guys, can you look your android device ? is it running on Lollipop, marshmallow, or even Oreo? are you familiar with those names? well those are the code name of Android version.
Lollipop is basically running on android version 5.0, marshmallow is 6.0, and Oreo is the newest version it is version 8.0. Are you confused yet? well, in this post I will provide you the history of android from the early development till present.

Android company was built in October 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. Later on in August 2005 the company was bought by Google. The first version of Android was created on September 23, 2008 featured on HTC phone. Then on February 9, 2009 the version 1.1 was created.

The name of the first version of Android is Cupcake and it runs on an android version 1.5. There are enhancements in Cupcake, such as:
- Camcorder support
- Ability to upload to Picasa and YouTube
- Bluetooth Improvements
- Widgets and Folders
- Screen transition animations
- On-screen keyboard with text prediction

I don't have experience in using android cupcake because in 2009 I was still a child and I have no phone at all.

The next version of android is Donut it runs on an android version 1.6. The enhancements are:
- New interfaces of camera, gallery and cam recorder
- Improvisation on voice search and search experience
- Support for higher resolution
- VPN support

Eclair

It runs on version 2.0 of Android, and some enhancements are:
- Improved UI
- Contact and Account improvements
- Email supports
- More camera improvements
- Live wallpaper
- Google Maps

Froyo

Froyo was the fourth version of android which runs on version 2.2.
Gallery was redesigned in Froyo and I still remember that this version was my first experience in using Android. However, I use it on my Friend's phone. Also, Froyo brings you mobile hotspot support which now are very important.

Gingerbread

Android version 2.3 is called Gingerbread. Gingerbread is a major refinement in Android. Widgets and Home were redesigned in Gingerbread. It also brings you multiple touch in keyboard. In this version was the first to have a front camera support which now is very important.

Honeycomb

It runs on a version 3.0 of Android. It was targeted for a tablet and the first version which supports tablet devices. In this version, Virtual Buttons were unveiled and make the use of phsyical buttons reduced. That was the big improvement in Honeycomb.

Ice Cream Sandwich

Android version 4.0 is called Ice cream sandwich. Face unlock, data usage analysis, and new applications were unveiled in this version. Also, google has made the domination of green color in android changed by blue.

Jelly Bean

This is the whole new level of android version. My first android phone was Samsung Galaxy Young S6310 which runs on this version, and I love it. According to digitaltrends.com, Refreshed font, expandable notifications, greater widget flexibility, and other features were also added in Jelly Bean, rending it one of the biggest updates to Android so far.

KitKat
Running on a version 4.0, Kitkat bring you something different than Jelly bean. Immersive status bar was the new function in Kitkat. "OK, Google" is also unveiled in this version.

Lollipop

In lollipop, Google makes android more light in color. It was the first version to have Material color from google. It is still the version that you will get if you buy a new phone.

Marshmallow

The biggest improvement is that google now use more "white" color in marshmallow. Also, Volume control was improved, you are now able to control what sounds you will adjust. Security is also improved. In Marshmallow, applications asked for a permission on what they need.

Lastly, There are Nougat and Oreo update on Android. However, I have no experience in using them. So I just stop the discussion on Marshmallow. Thank you.

Short Story Analysis : A Haunted House by Virginia Woolf

A Haunted Hous e by Virginia Woolf             Whatever hour you woke there was a door shutting. From room to room they went, hand in hand, lifting here, opening there, making sure—a ghostly couple.             “Here we left it,” she said. And he added, “Oh, but here too!” “It’s upstairs,” she murmured. “And in the garden,” he whispered “Quietly,” they said, “or we shall wake them.”                But it wasn’t that you woke us. Oh, no. “They’re looking for it; they’re drawing the curtain,” one might say, and so read on a page or two. “Now they’ve found it,” one would be certain, stopping the pencil on the margin. And then, tired of reading, one might rise and see for oneself, the house all empty, the doors standing open, only the wood pigeons bubbling with content and the hum of the threshing ma...
