Analysis: Apart

Apart

by Faiezati
Here and there..
Far apart through kilometres
The moon shines
yet the sky is the same

We told the universe
How you loved to watch the sun sets
How I love to watch the sun rises
How we love to stare at the empty sky

with the morning breeze
you hug me close and tight
as your warmth linger on me
in the starry night

We confessed our love shamelessly
in front of the galaxy

You trust me, I trust you
You believe in me, I believe in you
Things change, but best believe
my heart is still

Analysis

The poem is written in the mood of sad, relief, proud, and longing. It tells about the memories of the person who are in a long-distance-relationship with his/her love, in the name of death and life. The first and the second line "Here and there.. Far apart through kilometres" indicate there are spaces between the two of them. Kilometres here only describes as a long-short distance. It is long compared to any other unit measurement, but it is short compared to the gap between death and life. The next two lines "The moon shines yet the sky is the same" describes how he/she feels every night. The moon is the sparks inside his/her heart every time the person thinks about his/her love. The sky itself is the vacuum which is describe the emptiness the person feels.

In the second stanza, the person reserves his/her memory about how the love is build up between he/she with his/her love. The used of past tense in describing "you" is a very obvious indicator that his/her love have gone. The bond between in this stanza is very strong which can be found in the last line "How we love to stare at the empty sky". People will likely to be bored if they are only hanging out and staring at the empty sky without doing anything.

"With the morning breeze you hug me tight and close". The longing is stated clearly as the person says that. He/she compare the "you" with the morning breeze which is very cold yet calming the mind, body, and soul. It is most likely a sarcastic line because morning breeze is never that comfortable.

Next stanza only has 2 lines where the person recalling his/her memory when they say they love each other in front of the universe. The universe here is describing the starry night sky where people believe it feels like looking at the outer space. The person said 'shamelessly' because now he/she is embarrassed, he/she only come to the universe alone.

The last stanza is the promise the person and his/her love made when they confessed their love. He/she keeps the promise to trust and believe what is the best for his/her love and still loving him/her even though the situation is getting hard also many things in life change to be better and worst after his/her love left.

Short Story Analysis : A Haunted House by Virginia Woolf

A Haunted Hous e by Virginia Woolf             Whatever hour you woke there was a door shutting. From room to room they went, hand in hand, lifting here, opening there, making sure—a ghostly couple.             “Here we left it,” she said. And he added, “Oh, but here too!” “It’s upstairs,” she murmured. “And in the garden,” he whispered “Quietly,” they said, “or we shall wake them.”                But it wasn’t that you woke us. Oh, no. “They’re looking for it; they’re drawing the curtain,” one might say, and so read on a page or two. “Now they’ve found it,” one would be certain, stopping the pencil on the margin. And then, tired of reading, one might rise and see for oneself, the house all empty, the doors standing open, only the wood pigeons bubbling with content and the hum of the threshing machine sounding from the farm. “What did I come in here for? What did I want to find?” My hands were empty. “Perhaps it’s upstairs then?” The apples were in the loft. And so down a
