"Last Night I dreamed of Chickens"
by Jack Prelutsky
Last night I dreamed of chickens,
there were chickens everywhere,
they were standing on my stomach,
they were nesting in my hair,
they were pecking at my pillow,
they were hopping on my head,
they were ruffling up their feathers
as they raced about my bed.
They were on the chairs and tables,
they were on the chandeliers,
they were roosting in the corners,
they were clucking in my ears,
there were chickens, chickens, chickens
for as far as I could see...
when I woke today, I noticed
there were eggs on top of me.
This poem is about someone who had dream about chickens, and chickens are found everywherein the house and then later after the speaker woke up there are eggs found in the house.Analysis

- Figure of speech:
Alliteration : they were standing on my stomach, they were nesting in my hair,
- My personal opinion : i like this poem because i think it is easy to understand, the poet write this poem in easy way, for me i think this poem is about overthinking where the speaker can’t sleep at night because of the speaker overthinking something personal in her/his mind and the word “chickens” is not real chickens but it is anything that come through the speaker mind and then when the speaker woke up in the morning she found eggs which means that the eggs is depression which is caused by the overthinking.
