Verticulture


Verticulture techniques is a way of farming which is placing the planting medium in vertical, or it can be said that verticulture is a utilization of space in the vertical direction. The verticulture system can be alternative for the people who live in the city, which has a narrow land or even no land left for the cultivation of plants.
The type of cultivate plants are usually that have high economic value, short-lived or annual crops, vegetables, and has a root system that is not too broad like lettuce, kale, spinach, basil, tomatoes, bitter melon, long beans, cucumbers, or flowers such as petunias.
Verticulture is not just a vertical garden. However, this idea will stimulate someone to create the biodiversity in the narrow yard. Verticulture will invite butterflies and birds and other living creatures enliven the existence of verticulture.
Regarding the model and size, it is up to the creativity of its users. Generally is is rectangular-shaped, triangular, or shaped similar to the rung. What is important is the strong or easily moveable.
Maintenance in verticulture is relatively easy, plants moderately watered every day, and if possible no need to use pesticides. If you have an aerator wattage enough (like for aquariums), the system of irrigation can constantly change. Any other treatment, the same when we plant in pots or in the ground directly is to provide a liquid fertilizer or fertilizer granule by spraying into each hole. The addition of the compost, done by means of compacted around the plants that are already growing.
For those users who already commercial development of verticulture is to consider economic aspects, so the production cost not to exceed revenue from the sale of the plant. As for hobbies, verticulture can be used as a medium of creativity and obtain a crop that is healthy and qualified.
The advantages of verticulture :
• Easy to maintenance.
• The use of fertilizers and pesticides more sparingly.
• Can be moved easily
• Has its own beauty and attraction around the house.
• More resistant to pests and diseases.
The weakness of verticulture :
• Requires special skills in the manufacture of verticulture.
• Requires regular care and continuous.
• When the plant is moved not careful, then the plant is easily damaged, broken and even plants will die.
