The Hidden Paradise of South Sulawesi

Selayar, a small island in the south of Sulawesi island. Kepulauan Selayar district is one of 24 districts and cities in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Kepulauan Selayar district is located on the south of Sulawesi island. The district is one and only that all of their area are separated from South Sulawesi province. Selayar consist of more than 120 small islands which formed an archipelago area.

Geographically, Kepulauan Selayar region is located on 5°42' - 7°35' South Latitude and 120°15' - 120°30' East Longitude. The region is contiguous with Bulukumba district and Bone bay in the north, Nusa Tenggara Timur in the south, Forest sea and Malaka strait in the east and the west.

Its geographical condition make them have potential tourism. Potential tourism in Kepulauan Selayar are historical tourism, cultural tourism, nature tourism, and marine tourism. Kepulauan Selayar has so many beautiful beaches that are still preserved. There are Benefits beach, Liang Latest beach, Pa'badilang beach, and many more.

One of the most famous tourism in Kepulauan Selayar district is Taka Bonerate National Park which located in Taka Bonerate region. Taka Bonerate consist of 21 island and dozens taka and bungin.

Taka Bonerate National Park has third largest atoll coral in the world after Kwafifein in Marshall Archipelago and Sudiva in Maldives. While you are here, you can dive in the middle of amazing atoll corals, sailing through the sea, or just enjoy your vacation in the coasts.

Besides of marine tourism object, there are other tourism places in every regions in Kepulauan Selayar district, such as Gong Negara, Benteng Bontobangun, Suttia waterfall, and Batangmata traditional houses.

After a long trip all of you can taste traditional foods from Selayar such as Kue Senhkang, Nasi Santan, Tenteng Kenari, and Coto.

Selayar is one of seafood-producing area. So, don't forget to taste the tastiness of Kepulauan Selayar traditional seafood.
